In eastern europe during elections all parties give out free wine and fruit at rally stands. Even though we weren't registered to vote we could still get vino. If I were in Australia I'd sooo be a member of the Fishing Party!

I already meet the profile. Single foreign male of a certain age travelling outside the U.S on a one way ticket. I wont be carrying my laptop on this trip because last time they actually started it up and read the contents. Some people have told me San Francisco is auch nicer airport than Los Angeles for arriving and departing visitors and I agree, but I cant do SFO this trip. Its a pity. I guess Ill just have to get use to the scent of baby powder and the snap of latex.

Once you've been in mamagement awhile (week, month or maybe a year) uttering F!*k happens before the phone is picked up.

Now an owner of a fashionable dog - pics to follow, once winter ( a real one, not 50F) comes to Kyiv.

5 gold, 7 silver, 10 bronze for Australia, as of today

Tried sending Bloomsday greeting, but it kept coming back. Drank ten for you anyway. Glad to see you've landed safe. Keep safe and love to the dog.

How did you guys find out about 'The Chaser'? I dont think it goes out on the ABC's asian satellite feed because I get that in PNG and its as boring as hell. Do you guys get the ABC up there?

Chaser is in a bit of trouble. Look up the 'Apec motorcade' video where they dressed one member as Bin Laden and drove up to Bush's hotel. They've annoyed more than a few people lately God bless them.

Oh yes. I nearly forgot. Are you guys being politely asked to consider Iraq ?( 'excellent schools, tropical climate, friendly neighbours... '). Beats me how the State Dept can demand people go anywhere against their will.

In PNG the term is 'Haus Meri' or 'Haus Boi' for a maid depending on if they are male or female. In PNG, when a pilot leaves for a better job after a couple of years, everything gets passed on to the replacement pilot, including the apartment or house and the Haus Meri. In PNG the staff almost always live elsewhere or have a cottage nearby in the compound, but I found in Hong Kong that apartments have dedicated mini apartments near the laundry. Its a great set up for couples or young families having someone to help but for a single guy its bloody unnerving having someone materialise out of nowhere while your stretched out in front of Oprah with a beer in hand dozing off.

Hi Ho

Sorry for the prolonged absence. Very busy while in Singapore ( see above ). You guys were right not to come down as hotels are heavily booked and they are now fairly expensive, but the place is still worth a visit. Beer is ridiculously priced at some places but I found a few that I liked around Mountbatten Road.

Australians dont care about the Asian Cup, not since we lost. Its was good to see the Iraqi team win though. Youre going Postal?

So far in Asia our experience has been them pointing and laughing at us, after the required "hello" exchange with whitey of course.
Cairns city planners must've been Vietnamese, substituting paper for walls instead of rebarb and cement, to be more eco-friendly perhaps? Everything else sounds like Hanoi except the kids play on scooters while the rest of the family rides.
